Madie 2 1/2 Months | Orange County, CA Newborn Photography
Can you believe that this little princess slept and let me move her into newborn poses at 2 1/2 months old?! She was amazing!! C&K didn't know about newborn photography tell she was already two months. They really wanted newborn poses and pictures, but I told them I didn't think she would let me pose her or sleep, but that I would of course try. I am happy to say she slept like a newborn! She was such a pleasure to work with. Look at her eyelashes, cheeks, lips and just cuteness <3

Nelson 10 days | Orange County, CA Newborn Photographer
Baby Nelson melted my heart. I could have taken pictures of him all day and night. He was one of the most perfect babies I have got to take pictures of. He slept the entire time!! Look at his head full of hair and little smiles... just so sweet.
Thank you so much N&E for having me come take pictures of your handsome little guy. It was such a pleasure meeting and being able to take his first images.
Maternity | Orange County, CA Maternity Photographer
Jayme is seriously one stunning mama-to-be. Simply beautiful! She is expecting her first baby any day now. I cant be more excited for her. I am holding my breath waiting to hear she is in labor.
She rocked this session. We went out to the field on a freezing cold, rainy and windy day. We almost rescheduled the sessions, but the rain stopped so we went out. The sun never came out, so you could imagine the shivering, teeth chattering, nose sniffles, numb fingers and actually so cold it was hard to talk. We aren't used to the cold here, but Jayme did amazing! You would never know how cold she really was.
Thank you for adventuring with me on this memorable day. I cant wait for baby JJ to arrive!
Information on newborn sessions for first time or expecting moms
Newborn Photography
This is something I wanted to share with moms who are expecting. I think it is very important to be informed and something you also don't want to miss out on. I know having a new baby is very expensive, exciting and emotional. The new furniture, bottles, clothes, car seat, stroller, HOSPITAL BILLS and the list goes on... well forever! Everything can just be so over whelming, but trust me when I say you don't want to miss out on your babies first pictures. They will never be this little again. It will be going by so quickly that you actually wont remember them being THAT little. You will need images to look back on, cry, smile and remember. The hospital takes pictures (you pay for) and you will take your own, but from my own personal experience my hospital images were horrible. I loved them at first because I had mommy eyes. Any image of my baby is beautiful. Professional pictures are the way to go though. They give them such a personal touch over hospital ones. I am not saying that because I am a newborn photographer. When we had our little guy I couldn't come up with the money to hire a photographer and regret it big time now. Actually every time I do a newborn session I say to my husband "I am so sad I don't have an images like this of C". I thought I would just take them all myself, but then I wasn't in any of them, he wouldn't cooperate for me, I was to tired, in pain and actually I wasn't professional then so they don't look professional. I would love more then anything to go back in time and capture him all new and fresh professionally. Instead of going out to dinner, to the movies, buying a new shirt or whatever else I would have saved a little bit of money each month before he arrived and hired a photographer. I HIGHLY recommend you do the same thing. You wont regret it!! I have only heard of people who don't hire one that do.
With that all being said I wanted to give you some things to remember and keep you informed about newborn sessions. I get lots of emails and questions so here are some.
Schedule your newborn session prior to baby
No, we cant set the date yet but we will mark you due date in our calendar and make sure to fit your session in knowing baby is going to arrive. If not, we cant promise to squeeze your session in because we might already be booked up... We don't like to turn anyone away so please schedule before baby.
Newborn sessions are between 3-10 days of age
Don't worry you will still have a newborn after 10 days and we know you feel that they are still very small and sleepy, yes you are right! BUT after 10 days of age they don't like to be messed with, they stay awake longer and become very attached to the parent. They wont let us mold them into those sweet, squishy and amazing newborn poses that you see and love.
If your baby arrives and gets to come straight home, no NICU
If your little love arrives 3 weeks early. Lets say 37 weeks and gets to come straight home... the above section still applies. I know you think well he/she isn't due for another 3 weeks, so we can schedule the session when they were suppose to arrive at 40 week since baby is so small and we still get the poses. PLEASE don't do this. Baby will start to get strong within those weeks, stay awake more and when we pose them they will kick those legs and stretch those little arms out and BAM no pose.
Newborn sessions take longer then any other session
This session can last 1-5 hours depending on baby. Some babies will let you mold them into positions no problem and others need to be cuddled and feed a few times before. Not a problem either way we will get pictures! We know this ahead of time and like to let you know as well so that you are prepared for the journey.
Set your heater to 80+ degrees
Baby will sleep better when warm and cozy. Most newborn photographers will bring a heater to place next to the baby to keep them warm, but this will also help! We will be sweating but baby will be sleeping.
Have baby well feed and ready to go when we arrive or feed while we are setting up.
If baby takes a bottle have one ready for the session. It could help speed things along. If not that is totally fine as we will stop to break for you to breastfeed. I encourage breastfeeding! A well feed baby is a sleepy baby.
Don't feel bad and don't get embarrassed
Every baby makes a mess and trust us your baby hasn't made the worst one. Your baby will be naked for the most part unless you ask otherwise. Diapers just aren't professional looking. Pee and poop will most likely get all over our blankets and actually sometimes us... its part of our job and we are use to it.
We will come prepared
We will have heaters, blankets, back drops, floors, buckets, a bean bag to pose baby, beanies, head bands ect. We LOVE when you have ideas and want to add props to your session to make it your own as well.
Newborn safety is ALWAYS first!!!
If you see something your photographer is doing that you don't feel is safe speak up, ask questions and be involved. Images you see on facebook and the Internet are usually photoshoped. For me, I always ask mom to hold babies head, arms or whatever to support them. If they are not holding onto baby they are just few inches away. So make sure to support your baby or the photographer might have an assistant. Either way don't leave baby alone!
Before booking your newborn session ask the photographer you are interested in booking with questions. We will be happy to answer them. Make sure your photographer is prepared and fits your needs.
Hope this helps!

Samantha | Orange County Newborn Photography
This little cutie wanted to stay awake her whole session with the exception on a few seconds in between the quick pictures I took. She did not want to miss out on what was going on around her, but I don't blame her. I am so glad that I got to capture this special moment for her family. Samantha arrived a little bit earlier then she was expected making the perfect Christmas present to her family.
Thank you so much for having me come to these images for you. I hope you cerish and love them.
Campbell 8 days old | Orange County Newborn Photography
Meet baby Campbell!! Don't you just love her name. I was very excited to finally have a little girl to take pictures of. Her parents weren't finding out the sex tell baby arrived, so I was crossing my fingers for a little girl since it has been all boys around here. Baby C is just beautiful. I love her cheeks and lips!
Thank you so much for having me take pictures and capturing this special moment in your lives. Congratulations to your family D, E and big brother M!
Madison and Mason | Orange County Newborn Photography
Maddie and Mason where born at 33 weeks! They were in the NICU for a month. I was so excited for them to come home. First to cuddle them and second to of course take pictures of them. I got to see them just a few hours after they were born at the hospital and they were perfect and still are perfect! I am very excited to watch them grow and be apart of their lives. They didn't want to sleep much or be next to each other :-)
xoxo
